Moving Through
Centered on the book as a site of intimacy, Moving Through explores how artists use the form to draw viewers into territories of personal experience, memory, and reflection. The works in the exhibition approach the book as a tactile and temporal space unfolding in the hands of the viewer through the use of material, photography, and text.Through sequencing, repetition, fragmentation, and scale, each artist considers how narrative can be constructed through acts of looking, touching, and returning.
The works gathered here trace a range of emotional and conceptual landscapes, from textures of personal history to the widening distance between human bodies and the natural environment. Dwelling on the intimacy between the body and landscapes both wild and urban, public and private, the works become structures for holding the contradictions of closeness and separation, observation and imagination.
Moving Through considers the particular capacity of artist books to create sustained encounters in an era increasingly shaped by speed and distraction. To move through a book is to enter into a rhythm guided by the artist, pausing, revisiting and assembling meaning over time. The exhibition invites viewers into forms of attention grounded in slowness, and intimacy with the objects presented.
